What We Do

  • Identification and assessment of cultural, social and economic development needs of the Bunyala community for establishing development projects to redress the identified and assessed needs.
  • Mobilization of the Banyala community for awareness and understanding of their integral cultural heritage.
  • Preservation and promotion of cultural sites, tangible and intangible cultural heritage as well as oral accounts of the Banyala culture.
  • Mobilization of the youth in Bunyala for active participation in art, music, dance and drama including playing of local musical instruments as an indigenous communication tool in Bunyala for promotion of talents.
  • Mobilization of women for socio-economic empowerment.
  • Mobilization and sensitization of communities on embracing improved agricultural practices/farming methods and value addition.
  • Preservation of indigenous breeds and methods of cultivation and management of gardens.
  • Mobilization of resources for Bunyala community-focused development programmes, such as women empowerment, language preservation and environmental justice.
  • Mobilisation and sensitisation of all communities in Bunyala Cultural Institution to support and promote both BCHF and government programmes.
  • Connecting indigenous Banyala artisans and creators directly to consumers through their annual bazaars (markets)
  • Establishing media channels for information dissemination such as radio station, website, publication of magazines, calendars, documentaries.
  • Holding celebrations for important events such as International Women’s day (8th March), Engango (16th August), World indigenous day (9th August), Youth day, among others.
  • Identification and mapping of Bunyala cultural sites.
  • Establishing cultural heritage councils from village to district level.
